Description: Archmage Alturus wants you to get two well readings from underground water sources outside Karazhan. The stairs to these sources are at 47,78 and 48,78. You'll have to fight your way through tightly packed mobs to get to the water sources, I would suggest doing this with one or two other players. Get the reading using the Violet Scrying Crystal (provided by the quest giver).

Description: In this stage of the chain, Archmage Alturus wants you to collect 10 Ghostly Essence. The essence will drop from all of the mobs down the stairs underground where you just collected the water readings. Although all the mobs have a chance to drop the essence, it appears that Unliving Caretakers have the highest drop rate for the quest item.

Description: After submitting the Ghostly Essences, Archmage Alturus will prepare a report for you to take to another Archmage of The Violet Eye. You will find him at 16,54 in the Alterac Mountains. The easiest way to get there: 1) Fly to Tarren Mill, 2) Ride west into Alterac, 3) find Cedric at the cords provided north of the big pink dome.

Description: After downing the last boss in Shadow Labyrinth, Murmur, there is an arcane container on the shelf to the left of him. Open the container, kill the elemental that spawns, and loot the First Key Fragment.

Description: Now that you have the first part of the key, you will need to get the other two parts for Khadgar. The Second Fragment can be found in Steam Vaults in the pool of water (at the bottom) to the right of Hydromancer Thespia's room. Like with the first fragment, you will need to fight an elemental that spawns once you open the container. The Third Fragment is in Arcatraz. The fragment is in the container found in the first room you encounter voidwalkers. You'll see it to the right in the corner of the room.

Quest Turnin: Medivh - NPC that starts the event in The Black Morass
Rewards: 9 48, 15800 XP
Description: Once Khadgar gets the three fragments, he gives you the Restored Apprentice's Key and asks you to take it to Medivh in The Black Morass. Clear the trash in the instance, do the event (The Opening of the Dark Portal (Dungeon)), then talk to Medivh once you are done.

Quest Start: Medivh - NPC that starts the event in The Black Morass
Quest Turnin: Khadgar - Shattrath City 54,44
Rewards: 11 40, 19000 XP, The Master's Key
Description: Medivh asks you to return to Khadgar in Shattrath City to retrieve your key. Grab a portal from the mage in your party (certainly you have a mage if you just did The Black Morass!), and head over to Shattrath to turn in the quest. You are now keyed for Karazhan.
The quest chain continues, the next one (The Violet Eye) asks you to speak with Archamge Alturus outside Karazhan. Then he gives you a quest (Assessing the Situation) that asks you to find Koren inside Karazhan. The chain continues with several more Karazhan quests, the end reward being Violet Badge, a 36 stam, 45 arcane resist epic trinket.
A few notes about this chain:
1) To enter Shadow Labyrinth, you need the key that drops off the last boss in Sethekk Halls - Talon King Ikiss. Only one person in the party needs to have the key for the group to enter, but it is a good idea if you get the key for yourself as well.
2) To enter Arcatraz, you need a key as well. The key can be aquired by completing a series of quests that begins with the Aldor/Scryer quest chain Assisting the Consortium. You also need a flying mount to get into Arcatraz.
3) To go to The Black Morass, you must complete the quest Escape from Durnholde (Dungeon) in The Caverns of Time - Old Hillsbrad. This is the quest where you have to escort Thrall through the instance and fulfill his destiny. You must also complete The Opening of the Dark Portal (Dungeon) while in The Black Morass.
